My sustained investigation is thalassophobia, which is the fear of deep and dark water. This idea stems from my fear of dark and deep water. I will not swim in Oceans past a certain point and i am always hesitant to swim in creeks or lakes too. I am trying to capture what makes the water scary to show others my view of the water so they can understand the fear. My work is not supposed to be scary, but guide the viewer to notice the dangers of water. Water doesn't always need to be in a body of water to be scary. I took risks with my last image making it a cyanotype vs photoshop image. At first i was struggling to generate ideas so i just kept shooting different things. I then realized that i needed to use more bodies of water as the theme to make it obvious what the contents of the photo are. From dark water to eerie waters they all help lead to the photo obviously hitting my theme. The different processes i used helped create new ways to express my topic. I used cyanotypes, digital images, dark room images, pin holes, and collages to create my work. One image i took risks with was work six with the waterfall since i have never used glitter and i included an acrylic skin.
